As part of the 2024 budget allocation, the Federal Government aims to generate revenue amounting to 298.4 billion Naira from the sale of certain government assets. The announcement was made by Solomon Adeola, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Budget. This strategic move is perceived as an effort to address public debt and alleviate the financial burden on the Federal Government's budget.
Furthermore, the budget document outlines the government's expectation to achieve a surplus of 2.8 trillion Naira from state-owned enterprises in the 2024 fiscal year.
